More on Delta Museum:
History and Renovation:
The Delta Flight Museum is located in Delta’s original 1940s-era aircraft hangars in Atlanta. The hangars became the Delta Air Transport Heritage Museum and restoration facility for Delta’s first 21‐passenger Douglas DC‐3 in 1995. In 2011, the attraction was designated a Historic Aerospace Site.
Our recent renovation of the Museum brings new life to the facility. Renovation funding was provided by The Delta Air Lines Foundation. We also received generous gifts from Delta Air Lines employees, retirees and friends of the Museum. The Delta Flight Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Our Space:
The Museum consists of two airplane hangars and a plaza area across the parking lot. Historic Hangars 1 and 2 are the primary exhibition spaces, with a focus on the history of Delta and its family airlines from the 1920s to today. Across the parking lot is the 747 Plaza featuring a Boeing 747 plane open to visitors, an event pavilion with restrooms, and a static DC-9 and Boeing 757. Click here for photos.
