North Side Tour
Experience the excitement and energy of Chicago as you travel through the central business district. One of the world’s leading financial centers, the area is active around the clock. Travel around the Loop and down State Street, the grand thoroughfare whose glitz and glamour made Chicago famous with its renowned Chicago Theatre.
The tour includes Richard J. Daley Plaza, which is home to a sculpture designed specifically for the city by Pablo Picasso. You will also cruise Wacker Drive, a double-decker road that runs beneath the city and then across the Chicago River. In 1900, the city reversed the currents of this river in a feat hailed as one of the greatest civil engineering accomplishments. Guests will also see the historic Wrigley Building, the exclusive Miracle Mile shopping district and the John Hancock Building, one of the world’s tallest buildings as well as the renowned seven-story-tall Water Tower Place shopping complex.
The route passes through Lincoln Park. Comprising more than one thousand acres, the park encompasses botanical gardens, water features and a zoo. Other stops along the route include an authentic Totem Pole, Wrigley Field, the Newberry Reference Library and the Chicago History Museum.
South Side Tour
See the history, splendor and culture of the Windy City on a South Side Tour. The 319-acre Grant Park is home to the Adler Planetarium and the Petrillo Music Shell, which hosts al fresco summer concerts.
The tour route also includes Orchestra Hall where highly acclaimed Chicago Symphony performs, and the Art Institute of Chicago, which houses a renowned collection. The historic Shedd Aquarium is the city’s most popular attraction and one of the largest indoor facilities of its kind. Established in 1893, the Field Museum of Natural History has a remarkable collection that features 5,000-year-old hieroglyphs, mummies and over 24 million other artifacts. The tour also includes views of the 1,136-foot-tall Aon Center, which was retrofitted with white granite after its marble edifice developed cracks.
You will also see the upscale South Commons residential community and the 500-acre Jackson Park, the beautiful backdrop for the 1893 Columbian Exposition that commemorated the 400th anniversary of the birth of America. The exciting tour provides stunning views of the Museum of Science and Industry and its tribute to imagination and creativity as well as the English style architecture of the University of Chicago. The end of the tour includes Lake Point Towers, the world’s tallest apartment building, the 50-acre Navy Pier entertainment complex and Chicago’s inland port.
