The Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) was founded in 1980 as a way of collecting and showcasing the memories and contributions of people of Chinese descent in the USA. View highlights from the museum’s ever-growing collection of over 85,000 artifacts and ephemera documenting the lives of Chinese people in America since the early 1900s. This fascinating collection includes two centuries of books, photographs, oral histories, clothes, textiles, and audio and film recordings.

Central to MOCA is the permanent exhibition With a Single Step: Stories in the Making of America. It explores the historical and political context of Chinese immigration and reveals the personal stories of multiple generations, celebrating the impact of Chinese Americans on US life, culture, and politics. Several complementary exhibitions run throughout the year, and there are multimedia productions, festivals, workshops, and curated collections that expound further on the rich history of Chinese people in America.
