The largest canyon in the Pacific, Waimea Canyon stretches 10 miles (16 km) long, 1 mile (1.6 km) wide and more than 3,600 feet (1,097 m) deep. Its cavernous expanse was created by the movement of water flowing down from Mount Waialeale over thousands of years. Your tour of this natural wonder begins with morning hotel pickup in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach. Learn about the history of Kauai and the island’s changing landscape as you make your way west.
Spouting Horn, crashing waves propel majestic jets of salt water through lava rock. One of the most photographed sites on Kauai. Panoramic views of a valley covered in trees and wild green sugarcane. Hanapepe was one of the locations visited by famous explored Charles Wilkes in 1840 on his United States Exploring Expedition. We will go through Suspension bridge, built in the early 1900s for residents to cross the river. Explore a former paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) tour where a statue of Captain Cook resides. Scenic views of the deep valley gorges with it’s striking red soil covered in greenery…nicknamed the “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific”.
Venture down a nature trail in Koke’e State Park for an easy hike surrounded by native Hawaiian flora and fauna. The first portion of the hike is a gradual uphill stroll for about 30 yards, then the land levels; hugging the contours of the hill. Afterwards we will visit Pu’u Hina Hina Waimea Canyon lookout point. As well as relax and sink your toes in the warm sand at this popular beach. Historical trading location, established by Russians during brief stint in Hawaii in 1815. Additionally, the largest coffee farm in the United States, visit the Kauai Coffee Estate and sample a rich cup of famous Kauai coffee.
