Offered by Polynesian Adventures, the Waimea Canyon, Wailua River & Fern Grotto Adventure features a picturesque Kauai tour for guests of all ages. The adventure takes guests from the majestic Waimea Canyon and Waimea Canyon State Park, through Poipu—home of the Spouting Horn—and to Wailua River. Guests can also enjoy a 40-minute river boat trip on a long, flat-bottom boat.

On this Kauai tour, you will enjoy a day filled with the lush beauty, legends, and saga of Hawaii’s “Garden Isle.” Journey to the majestic Waimea Canyon, which Mark Twain called, “the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” Over 10 miles long, and almost 4,000 feet deep this marvel was formed by erosion and the catastrophic collapse of the volcano that created Kauai, Waimea Canyon State Park encompasses 1,866 acres and is a popular tourist attraction on the island. It provides a wilderness area with numerous hiking trails. Enjoy the drive along Route 580, which provides gorgeous views of the Wailua River. We’ll make several 5-10 minute photo stops along the route for a good leg stretch and restroom breaks.
Onward and upward! Driving up to 3,400 feet to see the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific” – Waimea Canyon! The canyon is 10 miles long, 1 mile wide, and more than 3,500 feet deep. It was carved thousands of years ago by rivers and floods that flowed from Mount Waialeale’s summit.
Cruise along the southern coast, drive through Poipu, a resort getaway for those in the know and home of the Spouting Horn. This natural wonder occurs when water rushes under a lava shelf and bursts through a small opening at the surface, making an eerie hissing noise.
Afterward, head back towards the Wailua River for your Wailua River Cruise (admission included). This is the only river boat trip in all of Hawaii! Sail up this historic, sacred river takes about 40 minutes (one way) on a long, flat-bottom boat.

- Hotel Pick-ups begin at 7:00am (approximately)
- Tour: 11:00am to 7:30pm
- Hotel return 8:15pm (approximately)
- *Pick-up is provided from major Kauai hotels only. Residential areas or at B&B’s are not permitted.
- Passengers in the Poipu area will not see Koloa Sugar Mill, Queen Victoria’s profile. No host lunch. This tour operates daily and on holidays.
