Secrets of the London Underground Small Group Experience
The London Underground, or the ‘Tube’ as it is more commonly known, is more than just a transport network- it is an icon of London and the lifeblood of the city; every year, more than 1.3 billion passengers journeys are made across its 270 stations. Beginning with the construction of the Thames Tunnel in 1843, the world’s first tunnel built underneath a river and dubbed ‘The Eighth Wonder of the World,’ the 175-year history of the London Underground is an eventful one full of world-firsts, stories, and urban legends. The Experience begins at the historic Baker Street Station, one of the original stops on the Metropolitan Railway, the world’s first underground railway.
Lake District tour with afternoon tea and cruise
Kick off your day of exploring at Oxenholme Station, where your expert guide will be waiting to whisk you away to the heart of the Lake District. Enjoy the scenic surroundings of the Cumbrian Mountains, stop to snap some photos at the tranquil Tam Hows, and discover the silver waterfalls and impressive rock scenery of Langdale Valley.
Then, it’s time to visit the tiny medieval market town of Hawkshead. With a charming mix of higgledy-piggledy houses and narrow cobbled streets, this pretty village in the heart of the Lake District was beloved by great writers like Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. The next stop is Hill Top Farm, the former home of Beatrix Potter and the inspiration for so many of her characters. If you visit during the winter months, you’ll see the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ interactive exhibition instead, as the farm is closed during that time.
