About St. Joseph Plantation
“Authentic” best describes St. Joseph, a working Sugarcane Plantation. Their family invites you in for a relaxed, intimate visit to tour their ancestral home, grounds & dependencies the dwellings of the Enslaved. Experience rich history & many exhibits sure to give you a glimpse into life on a sugar plantation. Most tours are guided by family members.
More Information on St. Joseph Plantation
Experience St. Joseph Plantation, one of the few fully intact sugar cane plantations left in the River Parishes. Visitors will explore the plantation home, original slave cabins, detached kitchen, blacksmith’s shop, carpenter’s shed, and schoolhouse. Take a walk back in time and enjoy a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the many interesting people, both free and not, who have called this plantation “home.”

Additional Information
- These tours go out rain or shine. Please note that a portion of the tour will take place on the plantation grounds, so if it looks like there is rain in the forecast, please dress appropriately.
- St. Joseph plantation gift shop offers visitors many items including paintings & Handicraft
- Rates are per person and include all taxes.
- The first tour begins at 10:00 AM local time and the last tour is at 3:00 PM daily.
- Picnic tables are provided for those that want to bring picnic lunches.
- Children under 6 are free.
- There are restrooms on-site.
Restrictions
- In an effort to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding all the COVID-19 measures, policies, restrictions, and requirements, please reach out to the provider prior to your activity/trip date.
- Due to the historic nature of the plantation, access to the second floor is by stairs only.
- All children under 18 years old must be with an adult at all times.
- No photography is permitted inside the plantation home.
- Pets or service animals are not permitted.
- Tours are not handicap accessible.
