The Guggenheim is an internationally renowned art museum and one of the most significant architectural icons of the 20th century. With continuous, open spaces flowing freely one into another, the rotunda is a grand, flexible space. Over 90 feet above the rotunda floor of the Guggenheim, and spanning 58 feet, the building’s skylight, or “oculus,” is one of the most iconic in the world. A monument to modernism, the unique architecture of the interior space, with its spiral ramp riding to a domed skylight, provides a unique forum for the presentation of contemporary art.
